Minister of Railways inaugurates WiFi services at Mumbai Station
Suresh Prabhakara Prabhu, Minister of Railways, inanugurated the WiFi services in a function at Mumbai Central Railway station, as a part of an ambitious project towards Digital India initiative by India initiative by Indian Railways with the help of RailTel Corporation in collaboration with Google. The services has granted Mumbai Central staion the distinguished statue of being the first ever station in India to have high - speed internet facility for its thousands of passengers who travel everyday by trains.
MPs Arvind G Sawant, Gopal C Shetty, Dr Kirti Somaiya, and MLAs Shri Ashish Shelar and Waris Yusuf Pathan - Additional General Manager of Western Railway, Rajan Anandan - Vice President and Managing Director of Google South East Asia and India, R K Bahuguna - Chairman and Managing Director of RailTel Corporation, Prabhat Sahai - Chairman and Managing Director of Mumbai Rail Vikas Corporation (MRVC) and Shailendra Kumar - Divisional Railway Manager of Mumbai Central alongwith other senior railway officers were also present on the occasion. In the beginning, S K Pathak - Additional General Manager of Western Railway, welcomed all the dignitaries including Minister of Railways.
It's worth mentioning that the Indian Railway's telecom arm, RailaTel Corporation will provide Internet services as RailWire via its extensive fiber network, in partnership with Google. Designed to offer users the best Internet experience, Railwire WiFi will be available to any user who has a working mobile connection on a smartphone. This is all a part of Western Railways's continuing endeavors to provide more and better comforts to its esteemed passangers.
